Editor-in-Chief

EIC_PhotoColin Hosten can totally handle the truth; he just doesn’t want to. A recent graduate of the Creative Writing MFA program at Fairfield University, Colin is currently completing a collection of essays about falling in love. His work has appeared most recently in OUT Magazine. He will begin teaching in the Core Writing program at Fairfield University this fall. Originally from Trinidad, he now lives in Connecticut with his husband and their puppy, Bugsy


Prose Editor

CNF_Wise_photoJoshua G. C. Wise is a fiction writer who has just completed his MFA at Fairfield University. He has written for several print and online publications. Joshua is also an accomplished musician, an avid hockey and basketball fan, and a lover of fine spirits. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife.

 

Poetry Editors

embarassed Katie Eber holds a B.A. in English Literature from Roanoke College and is a graduate of Fairfield University’s MFA program. Her poem “An Elegy” won the Charles C. Wise Poetry Contest while she was an undergraduate at Roanoke. Katie’s work has appeared in On Concept’s Edge, Hobo Pancakes, and is forthcoming in Garbanzo Literary Journal. In addition to her poetry, she was one of the founding editors of short-lived (but well loved) political satire blog Suburban Justice and has reviewed local and craft beer for Examiner Online. Katie enjoys good beer, good sandwiches, and advocating for widespread use of business hammocks. She resides in Yalesville, Connecticut or somewhere thereabouts.

Kristin Rose attended Stanford University and received a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing; she has a love of contemporary fiction and nineteenth century poetry. Kristin has worked in science publishing at Pearson Education, the New York Times Digital, and at the Hartford Courant and FoxCT. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing and English Literature at Fairfield University and is Poetry Editor of Mason’s Road Literary Magazine. She has experience in freelance journalism, travel writing, and science writing. Kristin will be teaching Freshman English at Fairfield University this fall.

Drama Editor
Drama_Zaccheo_PhotoDaniela Zaccheo received a B.A. in Communications and Journalism from Suffolk University and is currently a candidate for an MFA in Creative Writing at Fairfield University with a concentration in Fiction. She is passionate about reading, writing, and traveling the world. She lives in Los Angeles with her two cats, Jake and Ace. She is currently working on her first novel.

 

Craft Essay Editors
Craft_DiPrinzio_PhotoAndrew DiPrinzio, Philadelphia, PA, is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University. He used to spend his days teaching students with dyslexia classic literature like Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar through performance. After three years of taking on the role of Caesar and being stabbed with foam daggers by dozens of teenagers, he left to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing at Fairfield University.

 

Craft_Linder_PhotoMary Carroll Linder is a candidate for an MFA in Creative Writing, in Fiction, at Fairfield University. A graduate of Boston College, she began her career at Intercontinental Hotels where she thought she’d died and gone to heaven when they told her they were going to pay her to travel and write. For the next twenty-five years, she spent her career in communications, mainly for big multi-national companies, based in London, Hong Kong, Cairo and New York. Her last corporate position was senior vice president, communications, for a global airline. She is now principal of MCL Communications, New York, which specializes in crisis management, speechwriting and brand strategy.

Graduate of CSU San Marcos Literature and Writing Program, Shannon traveled to CT to pursue her writing dream by attending Fairfield’s MFA Program and concentrating in Fiction and Publishing. Through her time in the MFA, Shannon has been able to obtain internships with companies like Hudson/Whitman Excelsior Press, Mason’s Road, and Tupelo Press, experiences that she hopes will help propel her into a job at a trade publishing house. Under the close guidance of her mentor, Hollis Seamon, author of Somebody Up There Hates You, she hopes to bring her finished YA novel to bookshelves in the near future.

Michael_whiteMichael White is the author of six novels: Soul Catcher, which was a Booksense and Historical Novels Review selection, as well as a finalist for the Connecticut Book Award, A Brother’s Blood, which was a New York Times Book Review Notable Book and a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers nominee; The Blind Side of the Heart, an Alternate Book-of-the-Month Club selection; A Dream of Wolves, which received starred reviews from Booklist and Publisher’s Weekly, and is under option by Miracle Pictures; and The Garden of Martyr, also a Connecticut Book Award finalist and which is currently being made into an opera. His latest novel (William Morrow, 2010), Beautiful Assassin, won the 2011 Connecticut Book Award for Fiction. A collection of his short stories, Marked Men, was published by the University of Missouri Press. He has also published more than forty-five short stories in national magazines and journals, and has won the Advocate Newspapers Fiction Award and been nominated for both a National Magazine Award and a Pushcart Prize. He was the founding editor of the yearly fiction anthology American Fiction as well as Dogwood. He is the founder and director of Fairfield University’s low-residency MFA Creative Writing Program (www.fairfield.edu/mfa).

Founding Editor
lisa_chessLisa Calderone is the author of How to Raise A Family & A Career Under One Roof (Bookhaven Press, 1997) and co-author with Paul & Sarah Edwards of The Entrepreneurial Parent (Putnam/Tarcher, 2002). A Creative Type by nature, Lisa spearheaded the launch of Mason’s Road as her capstone project while a graduate student in Fairfield’s MFA in Creative Writing program. She lives, writes, and creates in Guilford, CT.
