Dear Readers,

I would be remiss in my duties as Drama Editor if I didn’t start with the most quotable line about truth to ever be uttered on screen—“You can’t handle the truth!” The line made immortal by Jack Nicholson’s character in the movie A Few Good Men makes a valid point: some people can’t handle the truth. But in this issue of Mason’s Road, we embrace and celebrate the truth. How does that other saying go? “The Truth will set you free.”

The truth can sometimes be harsh, sometimes liberating, and often scary. Nevertheless, we should all strive to be true to ourselves, in our lives and as writers, in our craft. We all possess our own truth. I invite now you to join us in a journey to finding that truth.

In this issue, Tom Grey shares his insights on life as a screenwriter in Hollywood. His thoughts and experiences are a useful guide for any aspiring screenwriter. We are also proud to present the one-act play “Little Red House” by John Yunker, which follows three characters in their journey to the truth, with a surprising and bittersweet outcome.

Can we handle the truth? Yes, indeed, we can.
