Love Poem

by Amy Krohn

I read a verse of poetry this morn,

and the sweet longing of it swelled my heart.

I spoke aloud my love for you this noon,

and the words dropped golden from my lips.

I bathed myself in sunshine as I walked,

and your hands touched warm upon my cheeks.

I ate my supper in peace and solitude,

and my prayer arose a duet, my voice with yours.

I went to bed in the dark of night,

and you held me near, so blessed near.
