CausewayLit is edited and published by students of the Fairfield University MFA Program. Many of the staff are pursuing their MFA with a concentration in publishing and editing. The current staff is listed below.

Editors in Chief

Dan Gorman (non-fiction) Born in the Bronx and raised in the Hudson Valley, Dan is a lifelong New Yorker. Out of sheer boredom, he joined the US Navy at 19 and then the Army National Guard, serving far longer than intended or was good for his knees. He holds a BA and MSW from Fordham University. He shares a house with his dog and Jeep in the Hudson Valley, and once climbed a volcano in Guatemala on a dare.

Ryan Stovall (poetry) is a former world traveler, adventurer, and Green Beret whose fiction and poetry has been published in numerous small journals and anthologies around the United States and the world. Unfortunately, he does not show up in photographs.

Section Editors

Miranda Heyman (fiction) received a B.A in Creative Writing from Berry College. She has previously served as an editorial intern for the Sigma Tau Delta Journals. She lives in Trumbull, CT with her two dogs, Sky and Asher. She is currently working on her first novel.

She wrote a memoir of her experience as a survivor of brain injury and has published both creative nonfiction and poetry.  She lives with her teenage daughter and pit bull, which are both sources of gratitude.

He holds a B.A. in Political Science from BYU and a Masters in International Affairs and Global Enterprise from The University of Utah. He served in the US Army in Afghanistan and the Philippines. She has also enjoyed teaching English to middle and high school students in Baltimore, as well as teaching dance to both children and adults (Renée has previously danced professionally in the Baltimore area). While she initially sought to concentrate solely in fiction writing, she has recently admitted a love for writing “all the things” and is adding some nonfiction and poetry to her studies as well.

Jodeci Nightshade writes about spiritual and social justice, and comes to Causeway Lit with experience in literary magazines and a hunger to read the very best poetry that she can get her hands on. She yearns to be a professor and champion the passions of future generations.

Samantha Price studied Creative Writing and Visual Arts at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she also sang in their choral program. While not reading or writing, she enjoys painting, photography, and hiking.

Brenda Sorrels is a graduate of Manhattanville College. Her first job out of college was as assistant to the Beauty Editor at Mademoiselle Magazine. Later, she worked for the Fox Broadcasting Company and wrote The Bachelor Farmers and The Way Back ’Round. She currently lives in Wilton, Connecticut, and loves sharing books and writing.

Derek Ivan Webster was raised in a tiny Alaskan fishing village and educated at Yale University. He is well aware that it is only his wife, and their precious/precocious co-conspirators, that keep him sane. More at ivanhope.com/writing.

I have a question for fiction editor Loan Le. I submitted (via the Dogwood submittable site) “Tryst” to you in February. I was wondering if it’s still under consideration. Thanks –

Submittable is not accepting documents in the form that have been accepted dozens or hundreds of times in the past. What can I do differently???
